Florida was a safe haven for the wealthy New Yorkers who fled Covid in 2020. In recent months, some of Wall Street and Silicon Valley’s biggest names like Elliot Management, Citadel, Shervin Pishevar, and Keith Robois, have moved to the Sunshine state to build roots. The move has reenergized the tech-finance boom that local officials such as Francis Suarez in Miami have been involved with for well over a decade. However, data suggest that the hype might be exaggerated.
